Japanese designers Junko Jinushi and Kyoko Kato created Antipast in the early nineties. From a background in print, dye, and textiles, the two came together to create their off-beat line of fine-gauge socks and knitwear intended to stimulate one's appetite for fashion much like the Italian 'antipasto' dish does ahead of the main meal. The name also alludes to a desire to move forward, 'anti-past'.
